Manufacturing in Utah

by

Utah isn't generally thought of as a manufacturing state, but manufacturing plays an enormous role in the state's economy. According to data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau, Utah manufacturing output grew from less than $10 billion in 2000 to $17.47 billion in 2014. Utah manufacturers accounted for 12.4 percent of the state's output in 2014 and in 2015 the state's 3,051 manufacturers employed 125,300 workers in 2015, or nearly 10 percent of the state's workforce. Add distribution to the mix and Utah stands out as one of the top states in the nation for manufacturing and distribution employment with an employee base of more than 190,000 people.

Because manufacturing is so important to the state's economy, the economic development office in the state continues to position Utah as a strategic location for manufacturing operations.

Happy Halloween!

by

Spooky seasons greetings from the IPG crew! Last week we took our weekly strategy meeting mobile, and explored the neighborhood. This house on 900 East and 1500 South always has the best Halloween decorations year after year. The owner outdid themselves this year with this HUGE fire breathing dragon! Maybe they will let us borrow it to hide inside a warehouse and scare some prospective tenants?

Woah Big Boy!

That is right…IPG Commercial just helped complete the largest industrial build to suit in the history of the state of Utah!

Post Brands recently signed up with Freeport West for a 900,000 square foot west coast distribution facility.  IPG assisted Corporate Realty Advisors from Dallas for a multi-county site selection process, ultimately determining that Freeport West had the right ingredients here in Salt Lake City.  The building is under construction with occupancy scheduled for 4th quarter 2017.  Congratulations to all involved in this monumental effort!

Utah CCIM RealCON

by

CCIM RealCon is an event that helps commercial real estate brokers learn how to improve their business for the next year. We hope all the brokers this year did not miss the chance to learn trends that will shape the commercial real estate market and connect with other CCIM members and non-members alike.

Michael is participating as the moderator in a breakout session this year for the Industrial/Warehouse Innovation and forward projections. Don't miss that session!

At IPG, we continue to strive to learn more about the industry and trends as a way to guide our clients way into this exciting commercial real estate market!
